A Very Stylish Festive Season

December 13, 2017

Tis the season, and here at House of Grey we are starting to wind down for the festive period, but first we thought we would share how our favourite trends of 2017 year and how these translate into the festive season.

Non Traditional Foliage

Textural Foliage is a fantastic way to dress your home. Combining different textures within one space adds another level to your festive adornment. We love the soft texture of Pampas grass, especially in a blush tone. Using non traditional foliage is a great way to extend Christmas dressing into the new year, remove the glitz and you are left with a beautifully raw and neutral aesthetic.

Creating an atmosphere

Dressing a room doesn’t stop at the visual, it is important to engage all the senses. Soft lighting and candles will warm the ambience and produce that wildly sought after Danish Hygge feeling. Scents of pine, fir and woodland lily fill the room with atmosphere. Carefully placed crystals will catch the light and add a twinkle as well evoking atmosphere through their healing qualities. Pyrite promotes creativity whilst Rose quartz attracts intimacy and furthers the family bond.

Blush

Blush has been a key trend this year, and it progresses beautifully into festive styling. Sitting opposite green on the colour wheel, get the right tones, and you have a stunning colour palette. We love the neutral qualities of this colour, it has the adaptability, when combined with the right elements, to be super luxurious and yet it is beautifully simplistic when it sits alone.

Brass & Gold

Brass & Gold, are staple elements when it comes to adding a touch of Luxe. Subtle nods of the precious metals within a neutral background brings an elegant aesthetic to any room, without being over baring. Adding a hint of twinkle to your home really builds a festive ambience, without loosing its edge. Combine with natural elements such as wood and paper to create a lovely simple, luxe look.
